Set amongst the vineyards and rolling green landscape of Tamborine Mountain, Cauldron Estate & Distillery is a destination dedicated to exceptional spirits, considered hospitality and the simple pleasure of time well spent.

Our 18-acre estate sits within the Hartley Road Winery Precinct, surrounded by established vineyards, open meadows and the remarkable natural beauty of the Scenic Rim. It is a place to slow down, discover something new and experience the landscape that continues to inspire everything we create.

Our Story

The Cauldron story began in 2020, founded by brothers Darren and Glen Stewart, together with Greg Dower, and a shared ambition to create exceptional Australian spirits with a genuine connection to place.

That vision found its home on Tamborine Mountain, where, on 14 May 2021, the doors to Cauldron Estate & Distillery officially opened in the Hartley Road Winery Precinct.

Their first creation was Five-To-Five Mountain Gin — a contemporary Australian gin balancing classic juniper with native quandong and lemon myrtle. It was the spirit that set the direction for Cauldron and established a philosophy centred on Australian botanicals, considered craftsmanship and distinctive flavour.

Mountain Gin was only the beginning.

From that first bottle, Cauldron has continued to evolve. New expressions, new botanicals and new ideas have joined the collection, each building upon the same commitment to quality and the landscape that inspired the original.

What began with three founders, one still and a vision for something distinctly Australian has grown into the distillery and estate we know today.

Inspired by Place

Cauldron takes its name from Australia's Green Cauldron — an ancient landscape shaped by volcanic activity millions of years ago and today characterised by dramatic escarpments, subtropical rainforest, waterfalls and extraordinary biodiversity.

Perched at 525 metres above sea level, Tamborine Mountain provides both the setting and inspiration for our distillery.

The landscape finds its way into our spirits through our approach to flavour, our use of Australian native botanicals and, increasingly, through ingredients grown here on the estate itself.

This connection between place, provenance and craft is at the heart of Cauldron.

Distinctly Australian Spirits

At the centre of the estate is our working distillery, where we create our award-winning gin collection alongside a growing portfolio of small-batch Australian spirits.

From the bright native botanicals of our original Mountain Gin to the floral elegance of Sunset, the intensity of our Navy Strength Coastal Gin and the estate-grown botanicals of The Navigator, each expression has its own character while sharing an unmistakable sense of place.

Our approach is considered and uncompromising: exceptional ingredients, thoughtful distillation and spirits created to be savoured.

The Cauldron Experience

A visit to Cauldron is about more than discovering what is in the bottle.

Settle in amongst the vines with a beautifully made drink, explore our spirits through a guided tasting, linger over cocktails and food, or immerse yourself in one of our distillery experiences.

Our Gin Making Class takes you behind the craft, giving you the opportunity to select botanicals, distil your own unique gin and leave with a bottle created entirely by you.

At the bar, our spirits take centre stage through signature serves, seasonal cocktails and tasting experiences designed to showcase their individual character.

Beyond the distillery, the estate offers space to simply enjoy the mountain — find a place amongst the vineyards, gather with friends, listen to live music or settle in for an unhurried afternoon.
