The plan for the day:
8am
The group of competition winners arrive at Cauldron Distillery for a Distillery briefing by head distiller Darren Stewart. The main power to the 2000L production still, affectionately known as Rosco is switched on in preparation for the day’s seasonal gin production.
8:30am
Guided by Darren, it’s time to begin exploring the wide range of botanical ingredients in order to understand their individual aromas and expected distillation outcomes. All participants will be hands-on at this stage, preparing ingredients, including sorting, weighing, measuring, peeling fruit ingredients and adding them to the still as per in-house recipe specifications.
9:30am
The group are served a hearty late breakfast prepared by Cauldron Kitchen paired with your choice of coffee, tea, soft drink, plus a cheeky signature Cauldron gin and tonic.
10:30am
As that morning’s seasonal gin distillation continues, join the distillery door team for a guided Gin Making Class where the group will explore a wide range of botanicals to make your very own bottle of gin. You will be able to take your very own 700ml bottle of signature gin to take home on the day, including self-bottling and custom labelling.
1:30pm
Return to the main distillery to review the production run as it continues and learn from Darren about the science of distillation and how the perfect gin is made.
1:45pm
The group will break for a gourmet lunch prepared by Cauldron Kitchen and soak in the vineyard and Tamborine Mountain views from the sandstone terraces. With lunch, guests will be served their choice of Cauldron Distillery’s finest cocktails and spirits.
3pm
Return to the distillery for a wrap of today’s activities and a Q&A session. Revel in the aromas of the gin distillation and sample some spirit straight from the production rub. It’s now time to hang up the distiller's aprons and head home. Once the gin has been proofed, rested and bottled, we’ll ship you a personally signed bottle of the run as a memory from today.
